Counter bags are quoted in a different world from carrier bags: the paper is light, 34 to 45gsm, and the job is speed rather than presentation. A bakery fills hundreds a day with one hand.

Flat bags are the cheapest and suit a sandwich, a pastry or a prescription. Block bottom bags have a gusseted base so they stand up on the counter, which is what you want for loose items, bread or anything being weighed.

Grease-resistant stock is available where the contents are hot or oily, and bags can be supplied strung or unstrung.

About this bag

+ What stock should a food bag be?

Bleached white kraft or sulphite for dry goods, grease resistant where the food is hot or oily. For bread, plain kraft with a window is the common choice.

+ How many colours can be printed?

Up to three, in Pantone, on one or two sides. These are light papers, so fine detail is kept simple on purpose.

+ What is the difference between flat and block bottom?

A flat bag lies flat; a block bottom bag has a gusseted base and stands open on the counter. The second is easier to fill and holds more for the same footprint.
